Intro classes are designed for beginners with little or no experience working with glass. It’s about having fun, learning a new skill and going home with a panel to be proud of!

My students are always amazed at how much they can achieve in a day and I enjoy showing them the techniques. Improvers classes are for anyone who has completed my intro class and wishes to have another go or improve on any aspect of making a panel.

I started with evening classes in stained glass late 1990′s in St Albans. Then went to Kensington and Chelsea college full time in 1998-2000 gaining an HND Btec in 3D Design specialising in glass and silversmithing. After re-locating to Basingstoke I found there was a stained glass studio / shop in Reading and started working there in 2005. I was designer, painter, maker, advisor and assistant in this busy studio. I gained the commercial and architectual experience needed to set up on my own.

Copper foil course Open or Close

This is an introduction to the copper foil technique invented and made famous by Tiffany.

Learn how to cut glass to a design, how to apply copper foil and how to solder the pieces together to make a complete panel to take home. A choice of designs and all tools and materials will be provided.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will also be available but please bring your own lunch.

Please note that during class you will need to wear closed, sturdy shoes. Classes are kept small to allow students maximum attention.

Fusing course Open or Close

This is an introduction to the technique of fusing.

The glass is heated in a kiln and melted to create beautiful pieces of art. Learn how to cut glass, use powders, frits, stringers, metal inclusions. You will be given technical instructions about the firing process. Really let your creative side come out!

Tea, coffee and biscuits will also be available but please bring your own lunch.

Improvers course Open or Close

This is a day for anyone who has completed my intro class and wishes to have another go or improve on any aspect of making a panel.

You can use the designs provided or I can guide you through the design process. If you can let me know when you book what topics you would like me to cover then I will provide everything on the day. These days are arranged on request.

All tools and materials will be provided. Tea, coffee and biscuits will also be available but please bring your own lunch.

Please note during the class you will need to wear closed and sturdy shoes and old clothes. Classes are kept small to allow students maximum attention.

Course Dates

Arranged on request and you can book a half day.

Two day lead course Open or Close

During this two day leaded course, you will learn how to cut glass and understand the design process. Including working to a fixed size.

Choose from a selection of designs and begin cutting the glass. You will learn how to construct the panel, and safely handle and solder lead.

The panel will then be cemented to make it weatherproof and carefully cleaned, ready for final polishing.

2 Day Traditional Painting course Open or Close

This 2 day course is designed for any one who wishes to learn the art of painting on glass using tools, equipment and techniques unchanged for centuries.

There will be a selection of designs to work with and inspire you.
